Few people are neutral about the subject of Israel and Palestine, and even reggae music takes on a different significance in the Middle East. When we mentioned to people that we were doing a story on a soundsystem in Israel, most people asked us: “Will you do a story on soundsystems in Palestine?” Not yet, we said. There are no reggae soundsystems in Palestine. Word association. Israel and Palestine. However, those who overstand reggae music know that the word sound power of reggae has liberated the meaning of Zion and Israel from land, religion or tribe.
