Soundsystem culture arrived to the Czech Republic through the free party and techno festivals of the 1990s, but reggae is catching up, with a new generation of dub activists, record labels and selecters who are schooled in the high energy cross over styles of future roots.
â€śOutside of Jamaica, reggae is important mostly to certain type of people from alternative and underground movements. The media brought the lifestyle, entertainment and enjoyment aspect. Maybe, thatâ€™s why Germany had such a singular boom of reggae dancehall. But the artificial hype disappears. Itâ€™s happening all over Europe right now. The real core stays, thatâ€™s why we still try to keep all these elements and principles alive, to stand firm and try to keep the spirit, although we are surrounded by a suppression system.â€ť [Yuki, United Forces of Dub]
